We will be moving to a vertical tutoring system
from September 2010 having consulted over the proposal to do so. The
purpose of this microsite is to share all aspects of this ongoing
process. It continues to be added to as things evolve.

An introduction to Vertical Tutoring is
available here
The Parent/Carers Vertical Tutoring Working
Group met for the first time on 26th April. The minutes from
this meeting are now available
here.
Following consultation, the names of the four
Houses have been decided. The consensus is that they
should remain as Burnett, Compton, Newton and Stanton. We are
now consulting on the branding of these houses with the intention of
incorporating our aim of "Tradition with a Modern Twist". More
information available here. We have
recently announced the new set of House Ties
that will be phased in to replace the existing school tie. A
letter was recently sent home about this which is
available here.
Information about the Buddy Scheme is now
available here. We have recently
appoint new House Captains
for each of the four Houses.
GOVERNING BODY DECISION
The Governing Body met on Wednesday 9th December and listened to all of the
evidence that had been gathered through the consultation about
vertical tutoring. This included student presentations and the
results of the student and parental surveys. After a full debate
on all aspects of the proposal, the Governors were unanimously
in favour of the introduction of vertical tutoring for years 7
to 11 at Wellsway School with effect from September 2010.
The School Leadership Team and all staff will
now be working alongside governors, students and parents to
implement the new system. In order to do this, consultation will
continue across years 7 to 10 on how the system will operate. As
this decision is about the future of the whole school, years 11,
12 and 13 will also be asked to contribute their ideas to this
process.
A full and detailed letter from Mr Chris
Trout, the Chair of Governors, will be handed out with the
Ammonite on Friday 11th December. It is very important that you
take this home and read it with your parents/carers.
Mrs Arlidge
