We are delighted to be able to announce that at long last we have been granted planning permission for our new Sports Centre. It has been a long hard struggle, but thankfully we have finally got there. The contractors have been appointed and are due to start around 21st November: the scheduled completion date is September 2012.

The new Sports Centre will have a six-court Badminton Hall, a Fitness Suite, a Dance Studio and an IT analysis classroom. Not only will this be a fantastic resource for the school, but it will be available for community use in the evenings and at week-ends. The site of the new building is on the field next to the artificial playing pitch.

You will no doubt already know that the school is desperately in need of a sports hall and that we have secured the funding necessary to build a wonderful new facility that will be available for the community to use outside of the school day. However, having our recent planning application refused by the planning committee presented us with a major set back.

Between February and May 2011, we looked again at all aspects of the school site and particularly the sports hall in order to learn from what neighbours, councillors and officers said about our first application.  This resulted in three possible locations, all on land to the east of the school buildings, on the playing fields and in the Green Belt.

Following a recent public consultation process which culminated in a meeting at school on 22nd June in the boys' gym, we chose a single site which was also the clear preference of the local community.
