Year Eleven GCSE results

Five or more A*-C passes (including English and Maths): 73%
Five or more A*C passes: 95%

Students at Wellsway School have achieved excellent GCSE exam results which, following last week’s outstanding A Level results, complete an extremely successful year for us at Wellsway.

Headteacher, Andrea Arlidge, said:

“I am really thrilled by the results that our students have achieved and it was such a joy to see their delight on results day. I am really proud of them and proud that results at Wellsway have improved in so many areas. These results represent life chances and our students have got the best start possible as they begin the next exciting phase of their journey. I am delighted that so many of them have chosen to join our outstanding Sixth Form and I look forward to welcoming them back in September”.

In a year where standards have been tightened, it was particularly impressive to see the percentage achieving five or more A* - C passes, including English and Maths, rise by three percentage points to 73%. Equally impressive however, is the fact that 95% of Wellsway students achieved five or more A* - C passes overall.

Particularly impressive individual results were achieved by Joe Pusey who gained 10 A*’s, George Singleton who achieved 9 A*’s and Vicky Sanders, Rebecca Spencer and Becki Unsworth-White who each achieved 7A*’s. Many students achieved an impressive array of top grades and, with over one third of passes at A*/A, this is indeed a record year for Wellsway.
