The new Technology extension was officially opened by the then Minister for Schools, the Right Hon. David Milliband MP on Tuesday 7th December 2004.  He was accompanied on his visit by the MP for Wansdyke, Mr Dan Norris.

Following the resignation of Mr David Blunkett as Home Secretary a week later on 15th December, Mr Milliband was promoted to the post of Cabinet Office Minister.
